Biden Should Announce for Good of the Democratic Party He Will Not Run for Re-election. Let the Democratic Candidates Bloom

Forgetting about secret documents left unsecured is disqualifying for re-election

Biden has sealed the end of his political career by rightfully disclosing the secret documents that he left unsecured in a former office. His spin doctors may try to spin it for advantage, but it will not work. Biden already has retained a low popularity rating, and wait until this admission of forgotten secret documents gets absorbed by the subjects of those usually inaccurate polls; Biden’s poll rating will almost certainly decline further.

The age factor has been there and Biden has tried to show bravado to work around it, but it will not play in Peoria. Biden is 80 and will be 82 in 2024 when he wants to start a second term which will carry through until he is 86. Biden’s supercharged ego caused him to announce his re-election interest, but if even Biden confronts the reality and suppresses his ego, he will have to admit he will be far too old for the job of protecting national security while promoting and expanding the general welfare. I am a young 75 going on 76, but no one is going to adopt the words of 16 going on 17 for me. I forget names like many of my age though we come up with ingenious strategies to remember the names we have forgotten. Biden has forgotten things besides the secret documents in an unsecured place. As Joe would say, “get real man" this is no game for octogenarians.

If you are worried that Biden will be embroiled in the forgotten secret documents case and not be able to achieve great legislative or administrative victories, then you have not been paying attention to the complete clown show in the House. With the likes of McCarthy, Jordan, Gaetz, MTG, Boebert, and pugilist Mike Rogers, don’t count on anything worthwhile getting out of the House. This clown team of radical reactionaries who, like nearly all current Republican House members, are there solely for power which necessitates they work to enrich the already enriched so the rich will pay them back a small stipend to get them re-elected. The Republicans’ strategy is a kind of political money laundering: House members give the rich tax breaks, forgiven loans, subsidies and grants, and the rich return a very small portion of that largess to the Republican House members to ensure their re-election and retention of their power base giving stimulation to their already over-extended egos.

So if Biden is neutralized or deflated by the forgotten secret documents, it is no worry as nothing will get done in the House anyway.

The useful things the Democrats can do are: abolish the undemocratic filibuster, confirm as many federal judges who are not recommended by the Federalist Society as possible to both the district and appellate courts, and pass the progressive bills past in the last Congress in the House in the hope that future history will result in their adoption as law, and on one issue on which they might be able to work with the reactionary House, mandate that the Rules of Ethics applying to all federal judges in district and appellate courts shall also apply and be binding on all the Justices of the Supreme Court, including a citizen complaint procedure for alleged violations by any Justice of the Judicial Ethics Rules.

Biden should focus on international relations where he has his most experience and where he can do some good unrestrained by the reactionary House. He has a good team to assist on foreign affairs, and he should engage them to the maximum. Finding an end to the Putin War in Ukraine would be a great achievement for Biden and Zelenskyy.

One final observation: now that we know the tremendous effectiveness of President Zelenskyy in leading his country to push back the Russian bear, it shows how ridiculous was Donald Trump’s shakedown effort on Zelenskyy when Trump withheld vital military supplies to get dirt on Biden. Trump was so outclassed by Zelenskyy and it was similar to the result of Trump’s shakedown effort on Brad Raffensberger , the upright Georgia Secretary of State who had the good sense to tape record Trump’s shakedown effort. And now that the Fulton County Special Grand Jury is through with their work, Fulton County prosecutor Fanni Willis should be close to presenting the findings and conclusions to a regular Grand Jury to obtain indictments of Trump and his sycophants. Trump should be worried, very worried, and so should Giuliani.
