FLASH NEWS: LIV Golf Claims It Will Sue PGA Tour
Just having completed my earlier newsletter today, I got an email from USA Today in an article written by Adam Schupak, that LIV Golf is threatening to sue the PGA Tour for disqualifying some of the turncoats who gave up the PGA Tour for the lucre at LIV Golf. As I reported in my earlier newsletter, the PGA Tour has now disqualified any of the golfers who left and joined LIV Golf from being ranked with FedEx points and competing in the end of season FedEx cup competition. In fact the published list of those with FedEx points now only lists those golfers eligible to play in the FedEx cup. No Sergio, no Stinson, no Westwood, no Mikelson.
So, golfers are running to lawyers instead of their coaches as normally happens on Monday after tournaments when they need a swing or putting fix. Already this suggests the PGA Tour and LIV Golf competition is not good for golf and probably not good for fans.
But the golfers who have remained with the PGA Tour and not sucked up that Saudi money, paid to the Saudis by us when we fill the tank, are not sitting still and watching as US dollars are being used to undermine the PGA Tour, a US institution. Davis Love III and other loyal PGA Tour players are saying if the Saudis, I mean President of the LIV Greg Norman, gets an injunction requiring that LIV golfers be permitted to play wherever they choose, PGA Tour players will withdraw from all tournaments where LIV golfers are present by court order. They have threatened to not play in the US Open run by the USGA, the PGA run by the PGA of America and even the British Open and Masters when their time rolls around again.
As the potential battle heats up one might also question whether Greg Norman needs to register under the Foreign Assistance Registration Act for promoting the interests of the Saudis in the halls of Congress or in Biden Administration offices.
Maybe the LIV golfers can get Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green to speak for their interests or Rep. Matt Gaetz to urge all young girls to watch the LIV golfers.
Of course, the PGA Tour will likely countersue the Saudis and Norman, their president.
Anyone want to yell FORE?
