Despite the predictions of the talking head pundits that jury selection could take two weeks, seven jurors were selected to be on the Trump jury, a pace far faster than predicted. No nonsense Justice Merchan deserves credit for this feat.
According to the Associated Press: “The panelists who were selected are an information technology worker, an English teacher, an oncology nurse, a sales professional, a software engineer and two lawyers.”
Trump still managed to raise the judge’s ire with audible grimaces and reactions. The clown thinks he always has to perform, but the Judge will have none of Trump’s disruptions and has admonished him that any continuation will be met with a contempt order including possible incarceration if the disruptions escalate.
Trump should sleep through the proceedings as then he will not face a contempt order from the court but he will be subjected to ridicule. It might also be a good idea for Trump to stop posting on Truth Social in the middle of the night with his constant threats and verbal assaults on anyone who gets in his way.
And talking about Truth Social, his stock, DJT, closed around $22 per share yesterday representing a remarkable 71% decline from the opening at $75. Anyone who put significant money into buying DJT has suffered a huge loss in only two weeks. People have been taking their losses with heavy sales of DJT from early investors so that a new crop of losers can continue the ride down with Trump.
If the current rate of jury selection continues, there will be a full panel of 12 jurors and 6 alternates by the end of the week so that the trial can start in earnest with opening statements by Monday or Tuesday of next week.
There have been reports that no Trump family members have appeared in court to give defendant Trump support. It is normal for family of the accused to come to court to give the defendant moral and emotional support, but Trump is alone: no wife, children, or others. So yesterday I responded to a Substack posting by Mary Trump, Donald’s niece and a psychologist, and suggested that Mary go to court as a family member to give “support” to her Uncle Donald. Of course, Mary is a strong critic of Uncle Donald and wants to do anything to prevent him from again sitting in the Oval Office. But it cold be interesting payback from Mary for all the evil Trump did to her side of the family. Go Mary to court to give us on the scene reactions and observations on the travails of Uncle Donald. Maybe he would say he was sorry for what he did to block her inheritance. Actually not likely from the incessant narcissist.
