Trump's January 6 "Day of Love"

Trump's Malevolence Shows in His Celebration of Attacking Police and Assaulting the Capitol

Trump is showing ever more examples of a demented mind. Calling it a “Day of Love” when his rag tag supporters attacked the Capitol, deliberately injured police officers, threatened to kill the Vice-President, damaged and destroyed parts of the interior of the Capitol shows that Trump actively encouraged insurrection and a coup. His words will be evidence against him when Judge Chutkan is finally able to start the trial where Trump is charged with fomenting and supporting his failed January 6 coup.

Contrary to Trump’s claims, some of his January 6 rioters were armed with guns. The Secret Service told Trump that some of them were armed. I have seen video on X of one Trump supporter standing on a scaffold at the Capitol firing a gun into the air.

Trump now thinks he is immune from prosecution since, with the assistance of his Justices on the Supreme Court he has been able to delay for two years his prosecution in the January 6 case and then with the dilatory assistance of Judge Cannon in the National Security Documents case, where she issued a decision dismissing the case on grounds rejected by the Supreme Court, several Circuit Courts and District Courts. Judge Cannon was a Trump true believer, and she has no business continuing to sit on the federal bench. I filed a Disciplinary complaint against Judge Cannon, but the Judges of the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Council dismissed it without investigating Judge Cannon for her obvious political favoritism of Trump and disregarding settled law. Of course, the Eleventh Circuit is reviewing Judge Cannon’s dismissal of the National Security documents case.

But Trump and many citizens have forgotten that Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on November 26 in the Manhattan Court conviction on 34 felony counts. In light of his behavior during the trial, including multiple acts of contempt of court for his knowing violation of the Judge’s gag orders, Trump may very well receive some period of incarceration as well as probation.

I am sure at the January 6 trial, the Special Prosecutor will play videos of Trump’s riotous mob attacking the police trying to guard the Capitol and the Senators and Representatives there to certify Biden as President, while Trump coolly calls such actions a Day of Love.

Trump is getting more and more vile. At the Al Smith dinner in New York he made off-color and vulgar comments about various Democrats, including frequent profanity while he is next to New York Cardinal Dolan. Trump has lost all restraint, making vulgar and scatological statements about Democrats and other Dinner attendees.

Trump’s rambling and incoherent speech has caused him to decline an interview on Sixty Minutes because they would ask tough questions requiring him to think rationally, something he seems no longer able to do. He is now avoiding any serious interviews because he cannot handle intelligent response on questions; instead, when he does do a softball interview, he still avoids the question and starts rambling incoherently with his rally phrases. During the Telemundo Town Hall, a construction worker from Tampa told Trump he was a Republican, but he is disturbed by Trump’s action and inaction on January 6 and his failure to tell us all the information he had about the coronavirus, and he asked Trump to win back his vote. But Trump said he was supported by 97% of people in his Administration, contrary to the questioner’s reference to many Trump Administration people saying they could not support Trump, and then Trump said nobody was killed but Ashli Babbitt was killed and none of his supporters were armed, and then he claimed he told his rioters to be “peaceful and patriotic,” though there is no evidence he said that, and finally now becoming totally divorced from reality, Trump says it was a “Day of Love.”

The 160 Capitol police who were injured and the five people who died did not think it was a Day of Love.

If Trump is so divorced from reality, how can people vote for this man convicted of 34 felonies, who waves around National Security documents and foments a violent attack on our Capitol and lies to us about everything. Democracy requires truth.
